Regarding Mayor Litman’s insults to the “elderly” of this city, I wish to remind him that “elderly” people make up a very large portion of the population of Mesquite. I was amazed not to see the word “worthless” in his article. They pay their taxes, HIS salary, including every single councilman and city employee. Many are still employed (a lot in city government collecting higher wages than most). The senior volunteers contribute hours and hours of their “nonworking” time to support the arts, theater, police department and church. Please tell me what your definition of “younger” people are. Those that are born here, go to school here and can’t wait to get out? They are the first to want to leave. What a slap in the face to those “elderly” people who voted for him! Mr. Mayor, you need to rethink your opinion quickly before the elderly of this city revolt and decide to vote for a “younger” mayor next time around.
P.S. Even your caption is typical of your thought process – it should be Vegas-like, not lite.
The headline was NOT written by the Mayor, it was written by our editor. The author of the letter is not responsible for the headline “Vegas-Lite” which appeared in print. If you notice the headline here online when the post originated, it’s not the same.
