Murder cracked: Man killed by wife, lover after he catches them in act
HYDERABAD:Nearly a fortnight after a driver was killed in Keesara, sleuths of the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Rachakonda commissionerate cracked the murder mystery by arresting his wife and her paramour on Wednesday.
The decomposed body of T Durga Rao, 40, was found lying in the bushes of Ganga Nagar Colony in Ankireddypally village on November 2 by locals, who immediately alerted the cops.
Fissures in the family became evident four months ago when wife Lavanya, 22, came to know that Rao was suffering from a life-threatening disease and became close to her distant relative, V Veera Ramakrishna, 21, a driver.
On October 31 night when Rao returned home, he saw Lavanya and Ramakrishna in the bedroom and flew into a rage. Lavanya hit Rao on his head with an iron pipe. When Rao collapsed on the floor, Lavanya and Ramakrishna strangled him with a stole leading to his death. They loaded the body into a Omni van and dumped it on the roadside in Ganga Nagar. Rao and Lavanya had shifted to Hyderabad in September only.
“During the interrogation, Ramakrishna confessed to his role along with Lavanya,” Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said. Lavanya, who was arrested on Wednesday, told cops that Rao married her in 2013 by suppressing the fact that he was a widower. Ever since she got to know about Rao’s debilitating disease, she stopped being intimate with him and developed intimacy with Ramakrishna with whose help she came down to Hyderabad.
Police cracked the case after going through the CCTV footages and chanced upon the movements of the van at Radhika cinema hall close to the crime scene. After identifying the vehicle registration number (AP13P-9614), they contacted the van’s owner who told them of disposing of his van a year ago to a businessman. Cops then contacted the present owner, who runs a goods delivering agency, Shiva Shakti Enterprises, in RK Puram. During the checking of CCTV cameras at the parking lot of Shiva Shakti office, cops found Ramakrishna taking out the van on November 1 evening. They tracked his cellphone details and found his presence at the crime spot on November 1 night.
Rao hailed from Gokavaram in Andhra Pradesh and the couple have two children.
