Pee Dee man charged after reportedly shooting victim in neck

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Authorities announced that a man was arrested and charged following a Florence-area shooting on Wednesday.

Deputies said 37-year-old Danny Person of Pamplico is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a shooting with a victim on North Schlitz Drive.

Deputies say the shooting took place in a vehicle and that they were originally told that it was accidental and self-inflicted.

Upon arrival, investigators determined that the victim, who was the driver of the vehicle, had been reportedly shot by an intimate partner, who was a passenger.

Investigators allege that Danny Person shot the victim in the neck during a domestic dispute while the vehicle was stopped.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, and their condition is not available at this time.

Person is being held at the Florence County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
