John Waters - Part 2

John Waters is legendary filmmaker responsible for shocking audiences with films like Pink Flamingos, Hairspray (1988), Crybaby, Pecker, and many, many more. In this edition of On Film, guest host Carlos de la Torre welcomes none other than John Waters, who is on tour and will be in Las Cruces, NM, for "A Good Friday with John Walters".

John Waters is an American filmmaker, actor, writer, and artist. He rose to fame in the early 1970s for his transgressive cult films. He also works as a visual artist and across different media, such as installations, photography, and sculpture. The audiobooks he narrated for his books Carsick and Mr. Know-It-All were nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album in 2015 and 2020, respectively. In 2018, Waters was named an officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in France. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023.

Carlos De La Torre is a volunteer fill-in host for On Film, Saturdays at 11:00 AM. He runs Tower Productions which produces films and podcasts interviewing actors, writers and producers.
Sam Cassiano is a native Californian who spent his formative years in the Bay Area. An army brat, his family toured Germany and Japan before settling in El Paso in 1973. Initially a Communications Major at UTEP, a radio internship at KPAS-FM 94, the PASS launched his broadcasting career. He can be heard as the morning news anchor on KTEP during NPR's Morning Edition, and Friday evenings at 10 pm as the host of Friday Night Blues.
